Site specificity and the process of using paint as both medium and subject is the underpinning theme to Jonathan’s practice.  

He creates three-dimensional paintings, prepared carefully by manipulating sheets of pure paint. These sheets are then shaped allowing tone to articulate form, instigating the activation of negative space.  

A visual parody of the traditional medium stimulates an engagement that extends beyond the surface of the canvas, inviting a sensation between the artwork and its viewer through a Minimalist persuasion.  

Jonathan continues to challenge the boundaries of Painting as each work is conceived for the environment in which it’s shown.
